The third edition of Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner’s Eaux Claires festival was heavy on collaborations between performers, including Vernon and Dessner themselves. Paul Simon was joined by a classical ensemble, and many artists covered John Prine. Chance the Rapper, Danny Brown, Feist, Perfume Genius, Sylvan Esso, and Francis and the Lights were among others who played the festival.

Okkervil River announce new album ‘Away’ & tour, share “Okkervil River R.I.P.”

Okkervil River have announced that they’ll follow 2013’s The Silver Gymnasium with a new album, Away, on September 9 via ATO. Main member Will Sheff recorded the album with an almost entirely different lineup, “most of them coming from the jazz and avant-garde world” (according to a press release). Gonzalez, best known for his work with Junip and Zero 7, released a solo LP called Vestiges and Claws last year. And this is not the first time that yMusic is collaborating with a singer-songwriter; they joined forces with Ben Folds just last year.
