Arcade Fire’s Win Butler is DJing tonight at Rock & Roll Hotel

And he ‘s going by the moniker of Dj Windows 98, because of course. Rumination on a past that glitters but isn’t gold occupies a significant portion of Arcade Fire’s discography (“And all of the houses they built in the seventies finally fall / Meant nothin’ at all, Meant nothin’ at all,” Butler sings on “The Suburbs“). Arcade Fire Bring Ian McCulloch Onstage in London for Cover of "The Cutter"

I haven’t spent enough time with Arcade Fire’s music to really have a strong opinion of the band one way or another but I had to shake my head after hearing the stories that there were a number of Craigsist posting for the band’s 2007 show at Judson Memorial Church soliciting sex for tickets. The film itself is a feat, but without the stirring tones of this particular score, it could have lost a great portion of its depth. The score conjures such images, even without the film, that it seems the two were written side by side. It sonically combines the major elements of the ...

Arcade Fire – We Exist (Night Drive Edit)

Many listeners noted the subtle shift on Arcade Fire‘s most recent album Reflektor to a slightly more upbeat, dance influenced style. Well, Texas duo Night Drive are not about subtlety. On their edit of track “We Exist,” the song is transformed into an ’80s electro jam that wouldn’t be out of place on Nicolas Winding-Refn’s Drive soundtrack. The bassline and synths are emphasized, the drum beat turned up and the whole song is given a speed increase. Night Drive take Win Butler and co. out of the discotheque and onto the bright lights of the PCH. Take a listen ...
