Video of The Day: Vagabon

Video of The Day: Vagabon

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

Vagabon‘s “Cold Apartment” is a masterwork in raw, wrenched emotion. Laetitia Tamko’s vocals plumb the depths of heartbreak, so prettily pained. “I know it’s my fault,” she sings with resignation, “I gave up on everything.”

Radiator Hospital’s got “Nothing Nice” to say in new, slow-mo video trip

Radiator Hospital | screenshot from “Nothing Nice” video

Ahead of Radiator Hospital‘s very-much-anticipated album, Play The Songs You Like, we’ve jammed to two singles before the October 20th release. Now joining the ranks of “Dance Party” and “Pastoral Radio Hit” is the song / video for “Nothing Nice.”

Filmed by Nathan Stephens-Griffin — or “the legendary vegan anarchist philosopher/drummer/filmmaker” as Sam Cook-Parrott likes to call him, as seen in a recent Facebook post — the video follows minimalist cues in storyline, as Cook-Parrot and Cynthia Schemmer just kind of hang out in a living room.

Live Review: Girlpool + Vagabon @ Rock & Roll Hotel, 6/11/17

Intrepid mysterious Special Guest Star The Paper went in search of good live sounds, and the following is what transpired when he took in Girlpool and Vagabon at the Rock & Roll Hotel.

Sunday night marked a departure for Laetitia. She had been on tour with Tegan and Sara and I could sense the longing in her voice as she told us about the balloons the dynamic Canadian duo had on stage. Then she burst into a wide smile before continuing, “…but you’re here.”

That was a very cute way to get the sold out crowd cheering. I had seen ...
