Lots of brand new music on this week’s edition of BrooklynVegan Blog Radio on SiriusXMU, including songs from St. Vincent, Belle & Sebastian, Django Django, No Age, Prettiest Eyes, tUnE-yArDs, Sleigh Bells and more.
Merrill Garbus’s project, tUnE-yArDs, is bringing her experimental pop chaos back on the road for a few small venue tour stops. Thankfully, one of those visits includes Philly, in which tUnE-yArDs will be paying a visit to Boot & Saddle this November.
And double good news, you can expect to hear new tunes from the band as well, as learned through a statement on tUnE-yArDs’ website, along with the comment that they’re coming to “venues so intimate we may spit on you…”

Martha Wainwright will be celebrating her new album’s release Friday night at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. The album’s list of contributors include Beth Orton, Rufus Wainwright, Michael Ondaatje, Glen Hansard and Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs.
BrooklynVegan Blog Radio airs Wednesdays at noon and midnight on SiriusXMU (Ch. 35), which meant this week’s edition aired the day after the election. We chose an all-female playlist…and we made a Spotify version for those who aren’t SiriusXM subscribers.
Returning for it’s third night, Deli NYC sponsored event, The Hum will be back at the Manhattan Inn with another killer line up. The three set event will feature artists like Emmy the Great, Allison Miller, and Shannon Lee to name a few. These are super talented musicians and it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of music will be produced through these collaborations. This is part of the month-long residency – presented by Hypnocraft and sponsored by The Deli, that is aimed at spotlighting female musicians across a wide variety of genres.
