The Roots @ The Roots Picnic - 5.31.14The Roots Picnic took over Festival Pier for a seventh consecutive year on Saturday, bringing hip-hop legends together with up-and-coming acts. Early in the day, West Philly’s own Chill Moody got the blood flowing with a 30-minute set from the venue’s new Oasis Stage, which gives the crowd sand under its feet and a view across the river. The newly renovated Festival Pier had a nice feel to it early on, but as attendance grew, moving around to appreciate the improvements wasn’t a very attractive option.
