Listening to TJ Kong & The Atomic Bomb‘s new album, Dancing out the Door sounds like the “Post-Apocalyptic Americana” band is playing live in the room next to yours – if that room was the Maple Leaf or Tipitina’s in New Orleans, and the band members’ were the younger cousins of Reverend Horton Heat. My boyfriend at the time introduced me to their music, and soon I was playing their first two albums on repeat. While I enjoyed every song I heard, “Soco Amaretto Lime” became our anthem that summer. Thank God It’s Sunday! was the sentiment last Sunday night when bluesy rock band The Stone Foxes visited Philly for a high-energy set at Johnny Brenda’s.
