ZEBEDEE, the project of Australian transplant Zebedee Row, serves up crunchy, saxed-up garage rock that seems to dangerously flirt with the edge of madness. Their songs are rollicking romps through 70s-era rock ‘n’ roll, without ever feeling canned or over baked. Check out the band at Pianos 11/25 and stream them below.-Olivia Sisinni

Brooklyn-based rockers Stone Giant make you question what decade you’re in. With their late ’60s/early ’70s swagger, hippie hair, and Sebastian Hernandez’s crunch-tastic vocals, you’d think Led Zeppelin and Soundgarden finally had a baby. They enjoy a healthy following in South America, having toured extensively in Brazil and Argentina, but they remain underappreciated in the New ...

Some bands are like wine, they get better with time (sadly, most don’t). The Majorleans’ 2013 album "Black Belt" showed a confident band with solid songs and production values. Armed with a sound that could be described as "classic rock sans-cheese,"  and blessed with the character of songwriter Nicky Francis DiFonzo’s vocals, the record brings to mind ...

If we’re going to be honest about it, 2017 has yet to produce a real summer banger. Sure, you can make arguments for a few radio hits, but you’d really have to argue that one of them fits that magical "song of the summer" moniker. However, NYC-based MICKY (aka Michael Persall), might have just delivered the ultimate track to save you from those summer blues. "He Won’t," the Motown-pop influenced singer’s newest song premiering exclusively with the Deli, is another perfect example of MICKY’s penchant for making vintage sounds feel fresh and modern. With smooth horns, soulful falsetto vocals and funky synths, "He Won’t" is easily your perfect top-down driving tune. Stream it below, and we dare you to not fall head over heels in love. – Olivia Sisinni

Introducing themselves as NYC’s “premier power-pop rock band,” the Dives resurrect the retro kick of upbeat ’70s and ’80s rock. After celebrating the release of their high-energy EP “Everybody’s Talking,” at the Bowery Electric on June 6th, The Dives will kick off a 17 date tour that will see them back in NYC at the Mercury Lounge on June 26 and then at the Highline Ballroom on August 17. Formed less than a year ago, the band offers powerful guitar licks, driving drums, and classic, vaguely retro songwriting reminiscent of a less contrived Elvis Costello in his rock’n’roll phase. Star genes are embedded in the band thanks to front man Evan Stanley, the son of KISS guitarist Paul Stanley. – Simone Goldstone

Twiggy Branches plays the kind of rock ‘n’ roll you thought was dead. With snarling vocals and driving instrumentals, the NY-based artist is making a strong argument that it’s worth reviving. Brooklyn’s new project Fascinations Grand Chorus excels at that, sporting a look that’s very late ’50s/early ’60s, but choosing to push the classic pastel tones of those years in a more vibrant direction, with slightly psychedelic ...
