Regina Spektor shines solo at College Street (pics, setlist, review)

Spektor and her full band had performed at the venue earlier on the tour but she brought the run to the end with solo performances, which found her alternating between her grand piano, keyboard, guitar, the lid of the grand piano as percussion for one song, and wooden chair (for percussion or just because “I like to hit shit” as Spektor said).

Just Announced: Regina Spektor to Perform at The Queen Theater

Regina Spektor | photo Michelle Montgomery for WXPN | michellemontgomeryphotography.com

The Queen Theater (or the venue formerly known as World Cafe Live at The Queen) in Wilmington, DE is making its debut in a big way this concert season: the rebranded venue will welcome indie pop singer-songwriter Regina Spektor to its historic stage on November 11th.

The quirky piano-playing sensation is accustomed to playing sold-out concert halls and famed venues around the world (her last performance in Philadelphia was in March at a sold-out Fillmore), so this stop at The Queen is a rare opportunity to experience Spektor’s unique sound at an intimate show ...

First-Class Original Bluegrass and a Lower East Side Gig From Cricket Tell the Weather

Source: New York Music Daily

Cricket Tell the Weather have pretty much everything you could possibly want from a bluegrass band: inspiring instrumental chops, vivid storytelling and a dynamic range that runs the gamut from ecstatic to mournful. What distinguishes them from the legions of cover bands and pop musicians posing as Americana pickers is frontwoman/fiddler Andrea Asprelli’s songwriting. She’s informed by tradition but not reverent. Her songs are homespun but not sentimental, and she loves historical references. She and the band have a 10 PM gig on March 21 at the scruffy downstairs third-stage room at the Rockwood; cover is $10.

Their latest album, Tell ...

Regina Spektor | via her Facebook page

This September, singer/songwriter Regina Spektor shared her latest record, Remember Us To Life, which features lead single “Bleeding Heart.” Recently, she sat down with Talia Schlanger on World Cafe to discuss the record and perform some stripped-down versions of tracks like “Black and White” and “The Visit.”

Topics of discussion include the naming of the album, personal loss, motherhood’s effect on her songwriting, and more. If you’re having trouble sleeping at night, skip to 11:52 to hear the lullaby she sings to her son, but don’t come crying to me if you actually melt from how ...

Regina Spektor has a shared a video for the lead single from her new album Remember Us To Life, the pianist/singer-songwriter’s first in four years. The visual for “Bleeding Heart” was premiered this week by NPR and strings together images of a young Spektor in the Soviet Union.

“Bleeding Heart” is a quintessential Spektor storytelling gem, recounting the trials and tribulations of growing up over a bubbling hook and comforting chorus. Directed by her husband Jack Dishel, “Bleeding Heart” features Spektor dancing against colorblocked animation by Chris Tucci ...
