XPN MusicNotes: Watch Eddie Vedder debut music play covers with Glen Hansard and Fiona Apple, see Prophets of Rage perform on Fallon

Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder flew solo as the headliner at this weekend’s Ohana fest, where he performed a new song, and covered others by Pink Floyd, Neil Young and George Harrison.

Eddie Vedder hasn’t named his new song yet but some are calling it “Share the Light”. Check out the fan video below.

Eddie also covered Pink Floyd’s “Brain Damage,” George Harrison’s “Isn’t It a Pity,” and Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World,” on which he was joined by Fiona Apple and Glen Hansard among others. Watch the videos below.

XPN MusicNotes: HAIM debuts new songs and covers Prince, Rage Against the Machine teases…something

HAIM debuted a couple of new songs at their show in Santa Ana, CA last night. They also paid tribute to Prince with a cover of “I Would Die 4 U.”

Rage Against The Machine have not played together since 2011 but they’re expected to make some kind of announcement on June 1st after launching an online countdown and advertising campaign.

The site shows the above picture, which reads “Clear the way for the prophets of rage” (a lyric from Public Enemy‘s “Prophets of Rage” and#TakeThePowerBack (a Rage Against the Machine song). What could it all mean?
