You don’t hear too many stories of a band breaking up and then coming back even stronger. Sleater-Kinney went on hiatus in August 2006, and now, nine years later, have returned full throttle with a dynamite new album and world tour.

This past Saturday’s show at Union Transfer was mind-blowing. The band performed 23 songs in total, which included all but one of their songs on the newly released No Cities to Love and oodles of S-K favorites from their 12 years together as a band.

Sleater-Kinney Reunites, Announces New Album and Tour

Sleater-Kinney is back and better than ever!  The indie-punk trio  have announced a new album coming out January 20, 2015 with tour dates soon following next year, according to NPR and the band’s website.  Preceding their final major shows in 2006, including the 2006 Lollapolooza music festival, the band featuring Corin “Kissy” Tucker (vocals, guitar), Janet Weiss (drums), and Carrie Brownstein (guitar, vocals) announced an indefinite hiatus, with no explanation given.
