The third edition of Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner’s Eaux Claires festival was heavy on collaborations between performers, including Vernon and Dessner themselves. Paul Simon was joined by a classical ensemble, and many artists covered John Prine. Chance the Rapper, Danny Brown, Feist, Perfume Genius, Sylvan Esso, and Francis and the Lights were among others who played the festival.

Minneapolis five-piece Polica announced their tour dates, which included a stop in Philadelphia, all the way back in November. Well, the day has finally arrived — Polica will be performing at Union Transfer tonight. The group recently unveiled their third release, United Crushers, an album that provides an endless supply of synthesizer-driven hooks, but often with a dark, serious undercurrent (one of the album’s singles, “Wedding,” bluntly tackles issues of police militarization and the drug trade). Electro-rock artists Poliça have just released their new song, “Lately,” the latest track from their upcoming album United Crushers. The song glides over a smooth synth beat while vocalist Channy Leaneagh swoons “It seems like we’re too comfortable in love.” She may seem satisfied, but the nerve and discontent in her voice breaks through.

This week the band gave fans a taste of their latest single, “Wedding,” after announcing the album back in the fall with “Lime Habit.” Frontwoman Channy Leaneagh tells Stereogum that the song has an urgent message inspired by current events.
