The Growlers have shared the video for “I’ll Be Around,” the current single from their new album City Club. Directed by Warren Fu, it’s set in a hospital emergency room in the wee hours, when things get weird.
Mainland from New York is performing at The Foundry on Thursday as a part of NYLON-sponsored The Welcome Home Tour with Rooney. Mainland performed at the TLA in February and they’re ready for more Philly love.

Martinez, who released her debut album Cry Babyback in August last year, filled the album with tracks centered around the cutesy pastel theme. Martinez has built a large fan base since then, with her sold out show at the Trocadero Theatre Saturday night proving that even more so. Breakout star of NBC’s The Voice Melanie Martinez played here in Philly at World Cafe Live on Wednesday night with support from AJR.
The electronic pop-trio consisting of three brothers took the stage at 7 for a short set of cheesy love songs. Lead singer Jack Met is a natural frontman, charismatic and energetic, and the crowd, full of young ladies, definitely took notice. The guys all play multiple instrument, which straddled the line between impressive and cumbersome given how short their spot was. Their real strength was their impeccable harmonies.
I’ve only made it through one full season of NBC’s hit show The Voice, and it happened to be Season 3. While much of the show was pretty forgettable, there was one contestant that really stood out. She was a petite young lady with two-toned hair named Melanie Martinez. Her audition was an acoustic cover of Britney Spear’s “Toxic” that brought new life to the overplayed original.
