Listen to Maxwell Stern’s subdued, lo-fi cover Cayetana’s “Mountain Kids” on new EP

Cleveland-turned-Philly artist Maxwell Stern made his move known back in March with his self-released solo debut, There’s A Time For Everything. Now, he’s released a two track EP which includes an original titled “Light Later Lately” and a cover of Cayetana’s “Mountain Kids.”

This time around, Stern’s staving off total solo efforts by enlisting friends in the musical process. Recorded by Ian Farmer from Modern Baseball, the tracks also feature the instrumental stylings of Jon Hernandez from Timeshares and Jeff Meyers from Restorations.

Lockjaw Media announces Philly-spanning Alright? Okay. Fest

Philadelphia-based booking agency Lockjaw Media announced their brand new two-day, three-show festival Alright? Okay. Fest, with gigs taking place at HH Ranch, The Pharmacy, and Cat House. The festival wants to raise awareness about mental health issues within and without of the scene, with part of the profits going towards Punk Talks, an “organization that aims to provide free mental health assistance to people involved in music as well as educate and raise awareness of mental health and self-care.”

Signals Midwest’s Maxwell Stern perfects bedroom pop on solo mini-record There’s A Time For Everything

Maxwell Stern, known for his roles in bands Signals Midwest and Meridian, just put out his self-released solo record There’s A Time For Everything, tearing apart the fabric of acoustic emo to include large sounds and even larger problems.

The self-described “mini-record” takes six tracks to explore “six real people, two imaginary people, five different cities, and two dogs” as written by Stern.
