Thanksgiving’s over, so you know what that means: time for bounties of the corniest, jolliest fa la la holiday cheer. While Christmas classics still run the show, it’s always fun to hear new takes on nostalgia-ridden tunes. Amazon agrees, as they’ve compiled a playlist called “Indie for the Holidays,” which includes a gleeful cover of the Beach Boys’ “Little Saint Nick,” by surf rockers, Best Coast.

ES_Cover_1500x1500On March 17, Seth Avett (of The Avett Brothers) and Jessica Lea Mayfield will release a collaborative album consisting of Elliott Smith covers. Seth Avett & Jessica Lea Mayfield Sing Elliott Smith will be released by Ramseur Records and will be supported by a 13-date U.S. tour. The short tour will find the artists performing songs from the covers album in addition to solo selections from their respective catalogs. They’ll be joined on stage by Avett Brothers bassist Paul Defiglia.
