If you have trouble falling asleep at night, try watching the video for Hope Sandoval and Kurt Vile‘s collaborative song “Let Me Get There.”

This is meant as the highest compliment. This otherworldly drum and bass/guitar infused lullaby will have you dreaming before you even shut your eyes. The seven-and-a-half minute track was condensed into a four-minute-long video – whether this is a good or bad edit is up to you.

Twinkling stars and stock footage of a black and white ocean current immediately set the mood. This ...

A couple thousand years ago, some Egyptian dude invented the sundial as a means of keeping time, and we’ve been stressed out ever since. Gone are the days when people “got there when they got there,” but on her gorgeous new duet with Kurt Vile, Hope Sandoval aims to change that.

“Let Me Get There” is the kind of song that transports you to another world. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this thing could make a root ...

Video of The Day #164: Massive Attack featuring Hope Sandoval

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

I’ve loved Massive Attack for a rather long time, and when they keep making music like this I see no reason to stop. “The Spoils” features the vocal talents of the divine Hope Sandoval, and the combination of their molten, midnight beats and Hope’s honey pure vocals is pure magic. The video, initially starring the mesmerizing Cate Blanchett, is a wonderful visual for ...

Singles Club: Psychic Ills

You know what’s somehow even better than a new Psychic Ills song? A Psychic Ills song featuring the honeyed drawl of Hope Sandoval. And sweet mercy y’all, it’s the darndest thing, that’s precisely what we have here.

Listening to this languid, hazy piece of sonic gold dust brings much happiness. Sandoval’s meltingly perfect voice fits right in to the wistful, warm, sun-drenched psych expanses of the song, snug as a bug in a rug. It’s a dandy, y’all, and you might just have a hard time tearing yourself away.

Mazzy Star @ Union Transfer.

Source: Jump Philly

Text by Brittany Thomas. Standing almost eerily still among a tower of cascading candles, faintly distinguishable in the screen projected moon light, Hope Sandoval is even more sensually angelic in the flesh than when emanating from a speaker on a recording. After a 17-year pause without producing new material, Sandoval’s Mazzy Star returned to the stage […]

Seasons of Your Day,” Mazzy Star’s first album since 1996, reunites the dreampop duo of Hope Sandoval and David Roback. Despite the long hiatus, not much has changed about the group’s sound: The new album highlights Sandoval’s wistful, melancholic vocals and Roback’s shoegazy guitars.
