Honey bring their manic psych-garage to St. Vitus on 7.21

Names can be misleading. Psych-punk trio Honey isn’t exactly sweet and smooth as you may expect, quite the opposite. The band, made up of members of Psychic Ills and Amen Dunes, plays a loud, tense and distorted brand of psychedelic garage that seem to teeter on the brink of a nervous breakdown. The track “Monk” (streaming below) off their debut LP Love is Hard lives up to the album’s name as it examines the devotion it takes to keep a relationship alive by comparing it to the vow of commitment and self-discipline that a monk would take. “Everything I ...

Berserktown is an annual festival that goes down in LA that’s more interested in booking challenging music than big names (like for example, Destruction Unit and Thee Oh Sees were headliners last year). It returns for its third year from August 12-14 at the Teragram Ballroom and includes Psychic TV performing their 1982 album Force The Hand Of Change in full with guests, Ana Curra performing a set of music from her short-lived goth band Paralisis Permanente (who existed from 1981-1983), veteran UK DJ Powell, repeat offenders Destruction Unit (billed as “Destruction Unit + Friends”), the first-ever US ...

COIN – It’s Okay

Source: All Things Go

COIN do some growing up on new track “It’s Okay.” Though the members of this Nashville four-piece have already proven themselves to be masters of fun, infectious indie-pop with tracks like “Honey” and “Atlas,” “It’s Okay” shows the band taking itself a bit more seriously, repurposing the usual bright keys and guitar to a hopeful sound that channels the more anthemic work of Local Natives and Passion Pit. We like what we hear. Give the track a listen below.
