The duo of Johanna and Klara Söderberg has a beautiful, harmony-driven sound similar to that of groups like Joseph and Fleet Foxes; the vocals on “It’s a Shame” are heavenly, fitting perfectly with the mix of acoustic strumming and country-inspired keyboard lines. Take a listen to “It’s a Shame” below, revisit their XPoNential Music Festival appearance here and keep tabs on the band via Facebook.

Monday Playlist: XpoNential Music Fest!

Source: Rock On Philly

Featured Image of Jim James by Justin Wise via Flickr

Ready for another amazing Music Festival this summer? Philadelphia’s own WXPN hosts the XpoNential Music Festival on the Camden Waterfront. The three-day event kicks off July 24th with three stages and thirty performers!

I’m mildly obsessed with J.D. McPherson‘s old school sound.

Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear‘s plucky guitar is fun and folk perfection. Everything about this duo makes me happy.

Dawes get their frowns turned around

and, finally, Vita and the Woolf Jen Pague’s voice is the stuff of dreams.

Listen to the full lineup tease here!

Stream First Aid Kit’s new album, Stay Gold, a week early

Source: The Swollen Fox

First Aid Kit Stay GoldFirst Aid Kit‘s new album and major label debut, Stay Gold, won’t be out for another week, but you can now stream it in full via NPR.org. The album was produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Man Man) and, as NPR’s Stephen Thompson says, “moves well beyond the portentous prettiness of the pair’s 2012 breakthrough, The Lion’s Roar.” Thompson elaborates:

“The music is lighter on its feet and less haunting, but the lyrics have picked up some additional heft along the way: “I’d rather be broken than empty / I’d rather be shattered than hollow,” the ...
