The Fashionably Late Top 50 of 2015: Django Django

The Fashionably Late Top 50 of 2015: Django Django

I am forever running late. While it may not be a part of my charm, I would refer you to the old saying about better late than never. In any case, after probably way too much thought, I finally settled upon my favorite 50 records from the year that was 2015. I’m also mixing it up a little this year, y’all. Instead of ranking every record, I’m giving you my picks in alphabetical order, saving my number one, very favorite record of the year for last. So sit back, relax, and refresh your memory of last year’s best with a ...

Remix Fix: Django Django/The Phantom Band

Source: Fuzzy Logic

In theory I like the idea of the remix: taking someone else’s song and tweaking it the way you want it done. It’s a great means for completely redoing something, and for reinterpretation. Sometimes remixes go awry, and sometimes they’re better than the original. Remix Fix is all about the happy medium when a remix totally nails it and makes a song that much better.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, here we have a heck of a remix indeed. Witness the total transformation of the deliriously catchy “Shake and Tremble,” by the one and only Django Django, from ...

Video of The Day #89: Django Django

Source: Fuzzy Logic

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

Another day, another Django Django video to love up on. “Shot Down” takes the viewer on a technicolor, kaleidoscopic trip through the US of A, as seen through the lenses of the band as they traverse the expansive amber waves of grain and purple mountain’s majesty. The rapid-fire barrage of saturated images is a cheeky play against the slower, more deliberate blurry rhythms of the ...

Video of The Day #66: Django Django

Source: Fuzzy Logic

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

I do love a good b movie, and to me the clip for Django Django‘s “Shake & Tremble” gives off plenty of camp, invasion of some type of crazy insect species or other, vibes. Not to mention the expected levels of undeniable danceability of the song itself. I’d say it’s the perfect way to get your weekend off to a heck of a good ...

Django Django – “First Light”

Source: Ryme et Reason

What a wonderful, light, and poetic song. Django Django‘s second song to catch my attention is “First Light” (the first one being “Default“) has a nice sing song-y quality that is deep while sounding pleasant. I especially like the part about the “future that is greener than they money we spent”. Sending …

Django Django will release its sophomore album, Born Under Saturn, on May 5 via Ribbon Music. As a press release explains, the album “expands on the slippery, indefinable nature of their self-titled debut, applying all of it’s giddy art-rock imagination only across a much larger canvas. Throughout, Django Django continues to find magic in the unexplored spaces between musical genres. Beach Boys harmonies and Link Wray riffs crisscross with house music pianos, while classical keyboard flourishes meld with Jamaican and African rhythms.”
