Jazz legend Herbie Hancock takes the stage at the Kimmel Center tonight for what’s sure to be a sweeping musical journey — the pianist and composer has 41 studio albums to pull from, after all. The groundbreaking musician got his start back in the 50s and 60s and is known for his ever-changing innovative style. In The Districts‘ latest video for their live-wire track, “Violet,” the indie lads throw dreary suburban life into a tizzy as they spin a strange and trippy narrative centered around an exasperated character.
The band states:
“For this video we wanted to put the viewer in a state of anxiety through the eyes of a young man unable to shake the feeling of uncontrollable suburban terror. The main character is out of place in a nice setting and needs to find an escape which he does in a weird but beautiful way.”
Cult artist Daniel Johnston has influenced tons of people over the years (like Kurt Cobain) and he has now announced what he says will be his final shows. Each show will have him backed by artists he influenced, specific to the city.
