Out In The Streets Festival comes to Ridgewood, Queens on 7/16 and 7/17

Whoever said Queens isn’t cool (hey! it’s the new Brooklyn!) surely must not have heard of the Out In The Streets Festival coming to the Onderdonk House in Ridgewood for its fourth year on July 16-17.  Filled with some of our favorite local artists, such as The So So Glos and Frankie Rose, the festival is primarily a rock’n’roll fest. Bands will be playing with a backdrop of art, food and the Ridgewood market.  We’ve prepared a playlist to give a taste of the artists playing this weekend, but be sure to head over to the Out In ...

Beverly releases 'The Blue Swell,' plays Rough Trade on 07.01 + talks about gear

Brooklyn dream pop band Beverly, who placed third in our Best of NYC Emerging Bands Poll back in 2014 (after Porches and Mitski, what a year!), just released her sophomore full length entitled ‘The Blue Swell," and we can tell you without any hesitation that the record marks a noteworthy improvement both in the songwriting and production departments. Singer/guitarist Drew Citron and her band mates played four gigs in the UK this past May and will be leaving for a two week East Coast tour that will end with a home show at Rough Trade on July 1st. ...

Brooklyn dreampop rockers Beverly are preparing to drop their second album “The Blue Swell” on May 6 through Kanine records. To celebrate that release they have scheduled a few live appearences: a full fledged live show at Baby’s All Right on May 5 with EZTV, Painted Zeroes and Tall Juan, and a free, in the store show at Rough Trade Records at 2 pm on May 7th. In our 2014 interview with the band singer and songwriter Drew Citron confirmed how “harmonies are the most important thing to me,” and how they can “set one moment of the song apart ...

Beverly share “South Collins” video

Source: Brooklyn Vegan

Beverly have shared the video for “South Collins,” the new single from the band’s second album The Blue Swell. Directed by Jim Larson, there is a strong David Lynch vibe going on here, which singer/songwriter Drew Citron says is entirely intentional:
I originally wrote the song “South Collins” as a noir film script, the music and lyrics describe a murder at an art deco hotel…

Singles Club: Beverly

Source: Fuzzy Logic

The sky is blue and the sun is shining, and Beverly‘s “Victoria” is really giving me the perfect amount of warm fuzzies.

Put together with the assistance of Kip Berman from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, “Victoria” is a perfect coming together of Lush-esque shoegazing with icy cool pop. It’s enough to bring a flush of joy to any cheek, really. I have to say I think the song is simply swell.

And speaking of swell, the band’s forthcoming record, The Blue Swell, will be out in May on Kanine. Mark your calendars!

Porches is The Deli NYC’s Best Emerging Artist of 2014. Mitski is #2, Beverly #3

Source: Deli Magazine NY

Deli Readers,

Our Best of NYC Poll for Emerging Artists has been – as usual – a lengthy and painstaking journey which took us through prairies of numbers, horizons filled with band names, and a dense, (mostly) joyous rain of music, but we have finally arrived at destination: we can announce the final results. This year we heave a very electric guitar heavy chart – at least for the top positions.

We are happy to announce that Porches is The Deli NYC’s Emerging Artist of the Year, and will therefore grace the cover of the upcoming spring issue of The Deli. ...

Weekly Feature: Beverly releases new video for “Madora” + plays Glasslands on 12.04

Source: Deli Magazine NY

Initially formed as a collaboration between Drew Citron and Frankie Rose, Brooklyn’s Beverly – after Rose’s friendly departure to focus on her solo career – has now evolved into a four piece touring band. , Even though Frankie’s contributions on the Kanine Records debut “Careers” is substantial, Drew is now moving the band forward with the help of Jamie Ingalls on Drums, Scott Rosenthal on bass, and Caitlin Frame on guitar, synth and the distinctive harmony vocals. The band recently completed an extensive North American tour with The Drums, followed by five appearances at this year’s CMJ Festival. The band’s ...

Beverly: new video “All the Things” + 2 Bowery Presents shows next week.

Source: Deli Magazine NY

Beverly, one of our favorite new dream pop band from Brooklyn, just released this video for single "All the Things" – just in time to celebrate the end of the summer! Wow, Drew Citron really sounds like Kim Deal on this song – we dig! The trio must be doing well since they are playing both Music Hall of Williamsburg and Bowery Ballroom within 4 days (September 16 and 20 respectively).
