The Swollen Fox going into indefinite hibernation

Source: The Swollen Fox

14976_497920336913512_845727972_nAfter more than 5 years running The Swollen Fox, I have decided to take a break from regular posting on the site once the new year begins. The Fox needs to shed some weight and will be in hibernation indefinitely, and whether he emerges from that slumber in the future is yet to be determined. Thankfully, his hibernation cave still includes internet access to continue powering the XPN Concert Calendar.

It has been a great run, and I am eternally grateful to everyone who made it possible and for all of those who have read and enjoyed the site over the years.

THANK YOU…

…to all of those that have contributed their writings and photographs over the years. I took no greater joy out of this site than getting to edit the great work of these contributors. Go here and click through the work of each contributor to appreciate their fine work.

…to Cassandra Boyce, who encouraged me more than five years ago to start this project, and many times more to keep at it. In addition to her own concert coverage contributions, she is also responsible for the site’s logo, which will forever remain my favorite piece of graphic design.

…to my family and friends, who have unabashedly supported The Swollen Fox since before it even began (and helped pick the name). As cliched as it sounds, I could not have done it without them.

…to WXPN, an ardent champion of the site from the very beginning and a joy to work with on our concert calendar partnership, which I am excited to continue.

…to the life-blood of the site, our advertisers: AEG Live, Live Nation, Bonfire Shows, Deathwaltz Media and many others over the years.

…to all the bands and PR people who have guest-listed us over the years, allowing us to bring our concert recaps to our readers and enjoy perhaps the greatest perk of all time: free live music.

Last, but not least, thank you to all the readers. It has been a pleasure to serve you.

Thank you all for helping make The Swollen Fox the funnest thing I’ve ever done. It’s been a joy to see the Philly music scene grow over these years, and if we played even a tiny part in that growth, I’d say this venture has been a success.

Coming your way very soon will be the first of our 2015-in-review lists. We’ll continue to post news through the end of this year, and the site will remain archived online for all those wishing to visit old posts.

Sincerely,
Kevin Kennedy, founder & caretaker of The Swollen Fox
