M. Vaughan – Where U At? / Comfort Zone

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

DC’s M. Vaughan just dropped one hell of an EP. Touted by Ben Pearce as one to watch, M. Vaughan is one of the best and brightest coming out of the district at the moment with his brand of UK influenced house. The ep starts with the garage influenced groover called “Where You At” which would fit perfect on Definition. The B-side “Comfort Zone (3 AM Mix)” takes a spacier route, wrapping an old school drum beat in swirling pads and lush chords. The best part is the whole thing is free. Grab it below

Nadastrom – Somebody

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

The day is saved. Nadastrom just dropped the track we never knew we needed and that absolutely decimates the rest of the year. “Somebody” is a deep and melodic house track that shows the duo experimenting with new sounds in anticipation of their upcoming LP. It sounds somewhere between Dauwd and Daniel Avery with all the passion and appeal of the Nadastrom we’ve come to love. Seriously though, if the whole record follows the trend set “Somebody” and “Fallen Down,” we can kiss 2015 goodbye.

Blisspop Mix Series #15: DJ Ken Lazee

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

DC’s Ken Lazee has been a long time friend and favorite of both the DC dance music community and the Blisspop family. Easily one of the best DJs in the area, Lazee’s mixes have a skill and maturity to them that sets them apart from the masses of DJs out there. Recently he opened for Danny Daze at U Street Music Hall, and when he sent us the recording, we had to have it for the Blisspop Mix Series (and luckily he obliged us ). Below is an hour of deep and tech house grooves that command you to shake ...

Blisspop Mix Series #12: DJ Lisa Frank

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

There are very few DJs that we have more love and respect for than DC’s DJ Lisa Frank. She’s quickly become one of the hottest names in the scene with her penchant for seamless blends of deep house and techno, she heads one of the most innovative and fun parties DC’s seen in awhile with ROAM, and she’s recently stepped in to the production game, blowing us out of the water with only one track. Frank is this month’s guest at BLISS, manning the decks alongside Blisspop’s Will Eastman, and she was nice enough to drop the next installment of ...

Outputmessage – Goldilocks Zone (DJ Lisa Frank’s Pulsar Remix)

Long time Blisspop favorite (and this month’s guest), DJ Lisa Frank makes her production debut with a rework of Outputmessage’s “Goldilocks Zone.” She puts a completely new twist on the original, working it into a dark, techy landscape with throbbing lows and clattering percussion. It’s hypnotic and spacey, sounding like a black hole pulling you in. Listen below and grab the exclusive over at Bandcamp:

Racking up a steady stream of releases for labels like Holic Trax, Sccucci Manucci, Music Is Love, and more, Ryland has been carving a name for himself with a great blend of deep house and techno. He’s also a member of the Silence In Metropolis crew and a top class DJ to boot. Chris McClenney – Best You Got

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

DMV-producer, Chris McClenney, cooks up one of the freshest tracks we’ve heard in awhile with “Best You Got.” The track is a soulful house groove wrapped up in future funk colors, working off a completely seductive groove, mellow synths, and dreamy atmospherics. It feels like a grown up version of a Kaytranada track with all the swagger and soul but smarter melodics. Listen below:

Ian Place – Control EP

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

DC’s Ian Place is prepping his new EP for Hot N Heavy. Place has been one of the quick rising talents in DC, racking up a string of releases for Silence In Metropolis, Semper & Solum, and more, and the Control EP is easily some of his best work yet. Consisting of two originals, and two remixes, Control shows Place experimenting more with soulful house, sounding like a modern take on Kerri Chandler and a bit like the Max Graef/Andy Hart camp. The remixes are no joke either, bringing in some serious grooves from the likes of Bob Citrus and ...

Outputmessage – Pillars (Music Video)

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

Outputmessage has just released the first video in support of The Infinite Void. One of our favorite tracks for the album, “Pillars” is a sprawling sci-fi flavored house trip that manages to make you dance while feeling the way deep space would sound. It’s an impressive track in itself, but when paired with a visual companion, it takes on a whole new life. Consisting of a series of constantly evolving motifs, the video plays with light and images to draw you in to a seemingly dark and sensual landscape that fits the track perfectly. Hit play before and keep an ...

Outputmessage – Pillars (Will Eastman Remix)

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

The DC force is strong with this one. Outputmessage has been slowly dropping remixes of tracks from his epic The Infinite Void, and the latest comes by way of Blisspop’s Will Eastman. Eastman reworks the track into a slow burning deep house beast that ripples with arpeggiated synths and spacey textures. It’s one of our favorites yet by him and the track does a really good job of refining the deep-house-by-way-of-techno sound that Eastman’s been cultivating. Take a listen below and grab the track as a free DL while you’re at it.

Jackson Ryland – Keep Her Close To You

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

DC producer on the rise, Jackson Ryland, throws out a new track for Broke City’s summer compilation. “Keep Here Close To You” is a nice deep house cut, leading with dreamy synths over a driving kick and hat combo. A lot of Ryland’s tracks have a raw warehouse feel to them, as does this track, but the late nights and mechanical percussion are offset by a really warm soundscape that makes this one of his most enjoyable tracks yet. Take a listen below and grab the whole compilation for free while you’re at it:

Source: Blisspop » DC Music

What an awesome way to kick off a Friday. Will Eastman has teamed up with Blisspop resident, Ozker, and producer extraordinaire, Enea, for a deep and dirty monster of a house track called “Falling In Dub”. The track centers around a classic house vocal and builds into a trippy, almost dreamlike, field of scattered percussions anchored by a winding sub bass. And while we’re on the subject, make sure not to miss Will Eastman this Saturday, headlining Bliss ...

DC’s Micah Vellian just dropped one of our favorite recent tracks on us out of nowhere. “Without You” is a hyper sensualized disco house burner that comes off as a cross between Russ Chimes and early Treasure Fingers. It’s a retro tinged ball of energy that seamlessly crosses genres and even comes complete with a “Sour Diesel Dub.” Take a listen to both versions below:
